Abstract
- EDWorks. has unveiled a metal-clad getaway cabin within the hills of Kozak Plateau, centered round a dialog pit embedded into the native terrain.
Istanbul-based architect EDWorks. has created a peaceable retreat nestled on the hills of the Kozak Plateau atop an present dry stone winery wall, minimizing disruption to the pure panorama. Standing out with its rusted metallic shell, the woodland cabin’s distinctly fashionable silhouette is balanced by the patinated exterior and textured picket inside partitions.
“In the end, the id of the construction is formed by the interaction of two opposing tectonic approaches by way of supplies, building strategies, manufacturing strategies, the distinction between locality and foreignness,” shared designer Edizel Demirel in a press release.
The tall and tent-like inside is clad with picket panels and supported by diagonal brown metallic beams, echoing the design language of Scandinavian structure. Core to the inside is the central dialog pit — a sunken dwelling area embedded into the topography of the hillside, creating an particularly grounded feeling. Whereas “moist areas” and different rooms are hooked up as extensions to the central unit, on the higher loft, the sleeping space is suspended above the pit.
The house’s home windows, which protrude from the outside, open in the direction of a scenic window framing a panoramic view. The designer describes them as the home’s “eyes” — “creating sculptural moments that mediate between the inside and exterior.”
