Jazz composer and multi-instrumentalist Angel Bat Dawid has introduced a brand new album that she made with the multidisciplinary artist and musician Naima Nefertari. Dawid and Nefertari’s new album takes inspiration from Nabta Playa, an historic astrological stone circle within the Nubian Desert. It was additionally impressed, partly, by the late youngsters’s books writer Virginia Hamilton’s The Folks May Fly: American Black Folktales: “They are saying the folks might fly,” Hamilton wrote. “Say that way back in Africa, a number of the folks knew magic.
