Supreme has teamed up with Spike Lee’s manufacturing firm, 40 Acres and a Mule Filmworks, on a group celebrating the works of the long-lasting Brooklyn-based filmmaker.
Lee made his directorial debut in 1986 with She’s Gotta Have It, shot largely in black-and-white over the course of two weeks. Within the 4 a long time since then, Lee has written and directed over 30 movies, together with his enduring 1989 masterpiece Do The Proper Factor, Faculty Daze, Mo’ Higher Blues, Jungle Fever, Malcolm X, Crooklyn, Clockers, Chi-Raq, and BlacKkKlansman, for which he received an Academy Award in 2019.
Throughout such broadly diversified movies, Lee has boldly explored a posh panorama of social and political points shaping American life – mainly via the lens of Black histories, relationships, communities, and cultures. Maybe greater than some other filmmaker, Lee has captured the richness of Black experiences with unflinching narrative and visible model.
The Supreme x 40 Acres assortment highlights Lee’s monumental biopic Malcolm X and the 1995 crime drama Clockers. Comprised of a Varsity Jacket, Baseball Jersey, two T-Shirts, and a 6-Panel Hat, the items draw inspiration from 40 Acres merch of the ’90s, initially bought at Spike’s Joint in Fort Greene, Brooklyn, and Spike’s Joint West on Melrose Ave.
