We didn’t have “multidisciplinary artwork and design studio remixes ultra-cushioned path runners” on our 2025 design bingo card, however we’re so glad it’s right here. The just-dropped HOKA x StudioPROBA collab provides a maximalist makeover to HOKA’s most iconic sneakers, remodeling them into strolling artworks with candy-colored palettes and playful patterns that wouldn’t look misplaced in a gallery. Surprising? Completely. Unmissable? Additionally a powerful sure.
We’ve lengthy admired Alex Proba, founding father of StudioPROBA, for her unmistakable aesthetic – a vibrant fusion of colour, pleasure, and sample that animates all the things from swimming pools and tiles to digital artwork and rugs. Now, she brings that very same expressive lens to HOKA’s performance-forward silhouettes, creating sneakers that fairly actually stroll the stroll. “Translating my artwork from large-scale sculptures and murals to sneakers felt like a pure evolution, particularly since my earliest work started on posters and small scale,” Proba tells Design Milk. “My apply has all the time been rooted in pleasure, motion, and nature, so bringing that power to one thing that actually strikes with folks made excellent sense. Each line and colour wrap the shoe as it will a wall or pool, however right here, put on and the weather, mud, solar, and journey, add a brand new dimension, turning every pair right into a residing, ever-changing canvas.”

Proba started the design course of by asking herself what emotion she needed the sneakers to spark. “I all the time start with the sensation I wish to evoke – pleasure, power, and motion – and the way that may stay on one thing as private and purposeful as a shoe,” she displays. She mocked up patterns on paper and digitally, embracing the problem of designing for a 3D object that strikes. Hidden shapes and natural kinds are tucked into curves and creases, revealing themselves because the sneaker strikes to life. “Identical to my bigger works, the magic is within the particulars.”
The limited-edition collab spans three HOKA kinds: the Speedgoat 6, Ora Primo, and Kawana Mid. A youth model of the Speedgoat 6 means even the littlest sneakerheads can be a part of the enjoyable. And Proba hopes they do. “I really like that these sneakers will accumulate mud, mud, and tales,” she says. “They’re made to be worn and altered by the world – like a portray that retains evolving.”
