Italian design studio Draga & Aurel is getting ready to unveil its Phebe pendant lamps throughout Milan Design Week on the prestigious Rossana Orlandi Gallery. As an revolutionary addition to their “Transparency Issues” assortment, these lamps embody the studio’s ongoing exploration of transparency by mixing influences from Minimalism, Area Age design and Optical Artwork. Impressed by the floating structure of Mike Kelley’s “Kandor” collection, the Phebe lamps transcend standard lighting by functioning as dynamic entities that actively work together with their environment, creating a novel dialogue between gentle and house.
The title “Phebe” originates from the Greek phrase for “brilliant and luminous,” reflecting the lamps’ ethereal presence and the playful, coloured glow they emit. Handcrafted in Draga & Aurel’s Como workshop, the lamps function two adjustable discs that diffuse gentle at variable intensities. The higher disc, product of Lucite, provides a skinny and radiant end, whereas the decrease disc consists of epoxy resin layers in various colours and shades. This materials mixture achieves a hanging aesthetic impressed by the Area Age — a interval outlined by daring creativity and futuristic design.
Designed to resemble satellites floating in parallel dimensions, the Phebe pendant lamps merge the actual and the imaginary. Their ghostly glow creates a visible and emotional expertise, balancing reminiscence with visions of the longer term. This interaction of transparency and coloration transforms gentle right into a vibration, inviting customers to discover the creative and expressive potential of illumination. With their versatile, adjustable design, the lamps can adapt to a variety of areas and moods, enhancing their useful and aesthetic enchantment.
