A brand new James Turrell exhibition is about to hit Tempo Gallery in Seoul subsequent month, marking the artist’s first return to the Korean capital in 17 years. Titled The Return, the present options 5 latest installations — together with a never-before-seen Wedgework piece — by the Mild and Area luminary, remodeling the tea home and all three flooring of the galleries into dreamlike illusions.

Additionally on show are two giant curved glass items, together with round and diamond-shaped installations from the artist’s ongoing Glasswork sequence. These works create the feeling of infinite depth via shifting planes of sunshine, drawing viewers into seemingly infinite luminous areas. Complementing the light-based works are images and works on paper that provide uncommon perception into the inventive course of behind Turrell’s notorious Roden Crater mission.
