Notre Dame Raffles Off Fire-Damaged Stones

Notre Dame Cathedral is raffling 50 stone fragments broken within the 2019 fireplace to boost funds for restoring France’s historic non secular websites. Every stone is engraved with the cathedral’s silhouette and serves as a bit of historical past from the long-lasting construction.

To enter, members should be 18 or older and donate no less than $43 USD by April 4 by the Heritage Basis’s web site. Winners shall be introduced on April 15, the anniversary of the fireplace. The stones can’t be offered, gifted, or traded as per Artnews.

Up to now, the muse has raised $247 million USD of the $912 million USD wanted for Notre Dame’s full restoration. The cathedral reopened in December after an enormous effort involving 2,000 artisans, who changed 14,000 sq. ft of stone, cleaned 8,000 organ pipes and crafted 1,500 oak pews. The raffle helps fund ongoing preservation efforts for France’s endangered landmarks.
