France still looking to block EU-Mercosur trade deal, Macron says

France remains to be looking for a “blocking” minority within the EU to stop Brussels from finalizing a landmark commerce cope with Latin American international locations that might damage French farmers, President Emmanuel Macron mentioned on Saturday.

Talking on the opening of France’s annual agricultural present in Paris, Macron mentioned farmers shouldn’t be “an adjustment device for buying energy … nor an adjustment device for commerce agreements.”

European Fee President Ursula von der Leyen sealed the free-trade settlement final December, after 25 years of talks between the EU and Latin American international locations which are a part of Mercosur, which now contains Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, Venezuela and Bolivia.
