After practically a decade, Pharrell Williams is placing curator hat again on for a brand new present at Perrotin Paris. In FEMMES, a strong group exhibition, the artistic polymath celebrates the enduring influence of Black girls – “the artists who rework the world via the facility of their fingers” – via a kaleidoscopic exploration of femininity, calling on the spouse, moms, sisters, daughters, mates and muses who’ve formed him.
FEMMES showcases work by 39 worldwide artists from pioneers like Esther Mahlangu and Carrie Mae Weems to rising stars Emma Prempeh and Naomi Lulendo, and artwork icons resembling Mickalene Thomas, Nina Chanel Abney and Prince Gyasi.
The present comes as a long-awaited follow-up to the Williams-curated exhibition G I R L, impressed by his sophomore album, on the Parisian gallery. “Once we thought-about doing the present once more, we remembered how a lot influence it had, and the way I used to be capable of leverage my platform.
